M first writers' MASTERCLASS PUNCTUATION EXERCISE is now up on Premier Community!

Exercises: Indeed it is God that enables and gives each of us personality, talent, and ability. Therefore it is only right that we offer the “first fruits” of our labours to our Lord, thus our exercises here are based around Holy Scripture. In th...

Great idea, Diana! Perhaps members could also post up their Bible-based drama scripts and sketches? The Bible has a rich tradition of being acted out, (with examples of drama indeed embeded in scripture itself, eps. the OT prophets - not to mentio...

My first writers' MASTERCLASS is now up on Premier Community! (see link below)

Masterclass Introduction It's easy to allow punctuation to punctuate our writing style full of holes. While most of us here at Premier Community may view ourselves as aspiring "holy" writers, it helps if we can not only master basic punctuation, ...

Profile Information

Denomination:
Anglican
Theological outlook:
High church / Catholic
About Me:
I don't like the 'denomination' question; by God's grace I am a baptised member of the Church of Jesus Christ; born of His Spirit. I am 'catholic' and 'orthodox'.

I lived for several years in a Christian common-purse community in California during the 'Jesus Movement'. I'm a chaplain, and am currently completing a post graduate studies in pastoral theology at St. Mary's College, Twickenham. I coach many foreign students in literacy and communications in a further education college in London, write poetry and move in prophetic ministry.

Favourite Bible Verse
I'll have the whole thing please! If I could only have one book on a desert island, I guess it would be Gospel of John. Makes me think of all the millions of believers around our world today who do not have a Bible of their own...
Spiritual Inspirations
The Life of Jesus; the Desert Fathers and Mothers; monastic tradition; Vatican II; the Californian Jesus Movement; my own Mum and Dad. Oh, and in no particular order, let's not forget Billy Graham; Martin Luther King Jr; Mother Theresa; Nelson Mandela; Thomas Merton; Bishop Nigel (N.T.) Wright; Alister McGrath; C.S. Lewis.

I'm now tempted to add something really silly like the Pussy Cat Dolls or Simon Cowell. I'll refrain, simply ending with the young Lewis Hamlton -ya for Formula One, youth and determination.. and now JENSON BUTTON and ROSS BRAWN.. well done guys!!!!

Peace

End of the week and lots to give thanks for... most of all, of course, to give thanks for the saving grace of Jesus Christ who keeps us safe and in His presence continually. Not that victory does not come without pain. I don't judge success by the avoidance of trouble… Continue

A Premier Group for 20th Century Christianity Anyone?

Anyone interested in co-hosting a Premier Group on 20th Century Church History? Could be a good ecumenical project, especially if we were able to unearth members with specific interests in particular subjects or church streams.

Let me know: but it must have some relevance to what we are as the 21st Century Church and the quickening pace of "convergence".. these are exciting days! We are now deep enough into the new millennium to make a historical analysis of 20th century Christian movements mea… Continue

Welcome to Gods Own Brother.

The Reader training was a three year course, mostly tutorials and assignments. In aaddition we had some residential weekends with Winchester Diocese. Our Reader training on the Isle of Wight is done jointly with the Methodists ( as it is in Bristol I believe). Yes discernment is so important, so that we know that we are called and gifted by God, and this is confirmed through His Church.

Hello "not very weird at all"!

Thanks for your reply. As to ministry, I am in an evangelical CofE, but I am discovering my own catholic tastes. My husband worships with the Quakers, preferring a less liturgical, more silent (and no choirs) form of worship. There is space for all surely. God's leading me intomore contemplative worship fits well with the Quaker waiting in silence.

As to gifting, my Vicar who has just retired identified a gift of reconciliation in me so it is exciting to see how that will find fruition. I believe this may include people coming to terms with past life experiences, as I have had to myself, but also being reconciled to others and to God. Watch this space.

Good to see your contributions in the poetry and brickbats groups on Premier.

I see we have a few things in common- like Anglican.. Gospel of John..early Church Fathers..Thomas Merton etc.. I was recently licensed as a Lay Reader in the Church of England at Portsmoth Cathedral- wonderful day, with family, friends, my Church choir singing a piece by John Rutter. Now I am getting more experience in preaching and leading services, but will also have a priority for pstoral ministry. Are you still a chaplain? Please tell me more about your involvement in prophetic ministry.

Hello John, I do remember the ex-Premier Radio presenter, but her name escapes me. She left several months after I joined Premier as a volunteer. She worked for the BBC and I think she maybe continues to, a very capable lady with auburn hair. When we are all in glory we can meet up and exchange what happened over the years as we passed one another by in God's glorious plan.
